Why Choose a Specialist in Foot & Ankle Surgery?

Foot & Ankle Surgery has rapidly advanced more rapidly than other orthopaedic areas in the last 12 years, with many new minimally invasive techniques and “tricks” to reduce the post-operative discomfort and speed up and ease your recovery.

A Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon is a fully qualified Doctor, who has taken further specialist training in surgery. Fourteen years of study are required to become a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, or longer at the older Universities, such as Cambridge. They have an in-depth appreciation of all your wider medical needs not simply a small area of your foot.

A Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon is able to prescribe strong post-operative pain relief and antibiotics if required. Do not be confused with a Podiatric surgeon who is not a Doctor. We always have a Consultant Anaesthetist available. We work along with other Consultants in a multi-disciplinary team, which maintains high standards by close scrutiny and stimulates fresh ideas.
